Bahram Afshari is a cinema, theater and television actor. He was born on June 6, 1366 in a small family in Hamedan. He was two years old when his parents separated and he grew up with his father. He spent his primary and secondary school years in Hamadan. He became interested in acting in high school and he was 16 years old when he started acting in the theater. He acted in children’s and fantasy shows for about 5 years. In 2008, he decided to pursue acting seriously and for this reason he went to Tehran. He took acting courses under the supervision of Professor Hamid Saarigian. At the same time, he played a role in 30 public performances in the best and most professional theaters in Tehran. The plays Remulos Kabir and Jen Gir are among the most important theaters in which Afshari has participated. In 1388, he became the best young actor in Iran and in 1389, he became the first actor of the Shahr Theater Festival. In 2013, Afshari won the statuette for the best male actor from the Fajr International Theater Festival. In 2013, at the request of Ahmed Mehranfar, he was chosen to play a short role in the TV series Capital 2 and played the role of Shirafken. He started working in cinema in 2012 with a short role in the movie I’m Not Angry directed by Reza Darmishian. This film was the only representative of Iranian cinema in the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2013, he appeared in the movie “Iran Berger” directed by Masoud Jafari Jozani and played the role of Thursday. In the same year, he appeared in the short film “Mom’s Birthday” directed by Morteza Shams. In 2014, he collaborated with Darmishian for the second time in the movie Lantori. This film, which was the third film of Reza Dermishian’s artistic career, was accepted in many domestic and international festivals and was released and received many awards. Bahram Afshari was nominated for the best supporting actor in the 19th Iran Cinema Festival for his role in this film. In the same year, he acted in the movie Kargar Sadh Nazwesim and was nominated for the best actor of the 6th Shahr International Film Festival and the nominee for the best supporting actor of the Iranian Cinema Critics and Writers Association in 2016. In 2014, he also appeared in the TV series Asman Man. In 2015, he acted in the movie Newcastle. In 2016, he co-starred in the movie Mr. Censor with Mohammad Reza Froutan and Bahare Rahnama. In the same year, he was nominated for the best male actor in the Hafez festival comedy by playing in the TV series Ali al-Badall by Sirus Moghadam. This series was broadcasted in Nowruz 2016 on One Sima channel. In 2016, Bahram Afshari worked as a presenter on the Hazardastan TV show. This program was the first special program of Nasim network, which was broadcast in the month of Ramadan 2016 to Mehr 2017. Bahram Afshari became famous in 2017 by playing the role of Behtash Fariba in the TV series Capital 5. This series won the award for best screenplay and best series from the 18th Hafez Festival. This season of this series was also chosen as the best Nowruz television series (from the eyes of the people) in the TV poll. For this role, Afshari won the Hafez statue for the best television comedy actor in the 18th edition of the World Image Festival. He then played a role in the blockbuster movie Rahman 1400 alongside actors such as Mehran Madiri, Mohammad Reza Golzar, Saeed Aghakhani, Yekta Nasser and Sara Bayat. Rahman broke the 1400 daily sales record of Iranian cinema. This movie became the record holder for the highest sales of a movie in one day by selling more than 1 billion 350 million on April 14, 2018. This movie is the 14th best-selling movie in the history of Iranian cinema. Afshari’s next work in 2017 was Cheshmogoosh Boste film. He acted as the main character in this movie alongside Amin Hayai. In 2018, he played a role in the movie “Segband” directed by Mehran Ahmadi. Siros Gerjestani and Ezzatullah Mehravaran were other actors of this film who died before the release of this film. In the rest of 2018, he played in the comic series Special Conditions and the home show series Del. In 2019, he played a role in the movie After the Event directed by Pouria Heydari Ore alongside Javad Ezzati, Reza Kianian and Ali Ansarian. This film was shown for the first time in Mehr 2019 at the International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents and was able to win a special UNICEF award at this festival. The film Sanhezani was his second film in 2019. This film was first screened at the 38th Fajr International Film Festival and won the Silver Simorgh Award for Best Director. Afshari then appeared in the comedy-drama Fosil directed by Karim Amini. In the first week of May 1402, Fossil became the first Iranian movie to sell more than 100 billion tomans, with sales of 170 billion and 620 million tomans and 420 thousand viewers. This movie, after setting a sales record of 230 billion tomans, was able to be the best-selling movie in the history of Iranian cinema, even considering the inflation rate in its first release. On August 19, 1402, the number of Fossil audiences exceeded 5,330,000 people, and after 14 years, this film broke the record of the audience of the movie Expelled 2, and became the most watched movie in the history of Iranian cinema in its first year. Bahram Afshari won the Hafez statue for the best male actor from the 22nd Hafez Festival for appearing in this film. In 2019, he appeared in front of the camera again in the sixth season of the TV series Capital. 15 episodes of this series were first aired in Nowruz 2019, but the production of the final episodes was half-finished due to the spread of the Corona virus. After the conditions became favorable, the last two episodes of the production and first the summary of the episodes aired on March 21, and then episodes 16 and 17, were broadcast on March 29 and 30, 2019, respectively, on 1 TV channel. In this series, Afshari played the role of Behtash Fariba and appeared in front of the camera as the third goalie of the textile team with number 55 and a hat in the shape of a Peter Czech hat. For playing in this series, he was nominated for the best male actor in television comedy in the 20th edition of Hafez Festival. Parts of this series were censored by television during the broadcast, these censorships became more intense from the second episode onwards. After that, Mohsen Tanabande, Ahmad Mehranfar, Bahram Afshari, Mehran Ahmadi and Amir Seyedzadeh, the actors of the series, protested strongly against the audits by publishing messages. Bahram Afshari was present in 1400 in Maidan Sorkh series directed by Ebrahim Ebrahimian, which was broadcast exclusively on Filmo’s home show network. In 1401, he played the role of Rahim Timsar in the home theater series Raz Baqa by Saeed Aghakhani. Bahram Afshari is interested in football and is a fan of Esteghlal. He has been a football player for some time, but he did not pursue this field due to his family’s opposition. Afshari, after winning the acting statue of Fajr Theater Festival, bought a motorcycle with his prize money and worked as a motorcycle courier in Tehran’s Customs Square for a while. He graduated from the field of production and some time later he studied acting at Azad University. Afshari wrote and staged the successful play “Jojeh Tighi” inspired by his own life. The show was well received.
