Homayoun Ershadi (born in 1326 in Isfahan) is an Iranian actor. He studied until high school in Abadan. After graduating, he went to Italy and studied architecture at an Italian university and returned to Iran eleven years later. In 1375, he was introduced to Abbas Kiarostami by Tahmine Milani and succeeded in acting in the movie Taste of Cherry. The Taste of Cherry won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and his performance was also noticed. In 1998, Homayoun Ershadiappeared in front of Dariush Mehrjooi’s camera in the movie “Pear Tree” and once again his performance was noticed. He appeared in the movie Queen in 2010 directed by Mohammad Ali Bashe Ahangar in a different role without dialogue. In 2007, Homayoun Ershadi played a role in Mark Forster’s Kite Runner. Kite Runner was the first international and Hollywood Irshad experience. In 2009, Ershadi appeared with the role of Aspasius in the movie Agora directed by Alejandro Amanabar and increased his reputation even more. He had a brief appearance in Kathryn Bigelow’s 2012 film Thirty Minutes After Midnight. In 2014, Homayoun Ershadi joined the Most Wanted Man project directed by Anton Corben and played the role of Dr. Abdullah alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams and Willem Dafoe.
